About me!

Hello!

First of all, thank you for clicking on this blog. It’s very much a passion project currently, so forgive me if it’s rough around the edges.

Chances are you have no idea who I am – well, that’s what this section is for!

My name is James, I’m a 2nd year Psychology student at the University of Reading, but that’s not why you’re here, is it?

As a part of my degree, I get to pick an optional module worth 20 credits every academic year. I’m incredibly lucky that my university offers a Languages For All course, covering modules for 10 different languages! Wow!

One of the languages they offer through LFA is British Sign Language (BSL) up to level 3. In my first year of university, I took BSL level 1 and loved it so much I just had to continue! I considered myself well versed enough to skip level 2 and, after some meetings and a conversation with the Language Lead for BSL, I made that decision.

So, here I am; 2 years into my BSL journey and it really is the gift that keeps on giving. I’ve met so many wonderful people, had so many great opportunities, and the future holds much more to come.

This blog is to share my experiences, advice, resources, and anything relating to my learning of BSL. I hope you’ll stick around – bonus points if you’re in the Berkshire area, because you’ll probably be getting a lot of insider info!
